Overwhelming Support from the Amador County Board of Supervisors Meeting
Kam Merzlak... President at Merzlak Signs in Jackson has recently stepped up his involvement with the Chamber of Commerce. Recently elected to the Board of Directors, Merzlak has taken on the Amador County State Fair Exhibit. "I have been promoting 2008 Amador County for years now through various media and valley business connections," Merzlak explained. "When Jacqueline Lucido asked me to take on this project I felt honored," said Merzlak. At that time I found out our County had won a gold ribbon for the past six years and that we would be working with about a quarter of the budget. I then told Jacqueline that while I browsed through the County Exhibits, it was always motion and animation that caught my eye. This would be a must if I were to be in charge of the design. After about a week of creative brainstorming, I thought that extra large photographs on a spinning carousel would give a basic rundown of the different recreation and tourism highlights our county has. Eight 4'x6' pictures to be exact.

With the much needed help of a chopper motorcycle fabricator from Fiddletown, who I will refer to as Crazy Doug, we will make this motorized carousel come to life. The main part of the carousel will be fabricated from a vehicle rear end housing mounted vertically and supported with 2"x3" box tubing. "We will assemble the main part at Doug's place with trailer hitch assemblies. The whole unit will then be disassembled and put together in a matter of hours at Cal-Expo. The photography will be from local photographers Craig Fouts, Larry Angier, Carolyn Fox, Eleanor Caputo, and Kam Merzlak, with the exception of a shot submitted by Kirkwood Ski Resort. The pictures will be viewed only through a 4'x6' view window in the front of the display.
Other items not shown in the picture will include representation from the Amador Vintners, courtesy of Jamie Lubenko. Holly Boitano of Sutter Gold Mine has also come aboard with unparalleled enthusiasm.
